Well it's been an interesting winter. We both had a really bad case of flu. Got meds for it, then relapsed.

Cher is now into her third month of chemotherapy. Her last treatment is scheduled for early January 2010.

I got put in the hospital for the last week of April with internal bleeding. A week after I got out of the hospital they found a blood clot in my left leg. Couldn't hardly walk for over a week before the blood thinners started working. Oh boy six months minimum taking blood thinners. Here it is the first day of summer and the doctors still can't tell us why or where I was bleeding.
Anyway, enough whining, here's some new pic's.

Here's the last kid to be born this year. A male we call Oreo. His twin was carried away buy one of our local Golden Eagles right after it was born(still wet). I was about 30 feet away and saw it happen. Sad.... But, then again awesome.

Also here is Lucille checking to see what Jeran is doing to (her) baby.
It took Jeran about an hour to catch the little guy. Oreo kept hiding behind trees.

I finally got one of the coyotes that have been eating our chickens and turkeys.

It's the 7th of June. The pelt is shedding, that makes it pretty much worthless. No more free lunches for this coyote.

And the Elk finally showed up............. in April!

Thanksgiving

We're a bit closer to moving in. Had a few setbacks. Family deaths, health problems, etc. But, onward and upward. I've been staying at the property for about 3 months now. We lost 13 turkeys to the coyotes. I keep a gun handy at all times just waitin for my new fur vest, jacket, or coat to show up for more turkey. Plumbing is almost in. Got the solar partially hooked up, (enough to run a couple lights at night). Well that's it for now. Maybe we can spend Christmas in our new place this year.

Just a few new pictures. Camped out July 4th weekend, 7:00am, 3 bucks standing there looking at me, by the time I got to the camera they were headed up the hill.

Here's another pic of pelicans and they're joined by a flock of Mallard ducks. Rick has had plenty of time to take photos as the weather is NOT co-operating.
Our chickens (barred rocks) and turkeys (mixed heritage breeds) arrive on June 13. Sure would be nice to have somewhere to keep them.
I know - there's that whole HUGE barn but Rick's managed to fill it with his treasures (OK a FEW of mine)
Anywho, sure hope the rain stops soon!

We've had an established herd of dairy goats for years (Nubian/Sanaan cross). We'll be growing only Heritage veggies and feed, so we can save our own seed. We hope to have old-timey breeds of chickens and turkeys so we can breed successive generations of birds too.

With the mighty Missouri River only a hop and a skip away we'll be able to supplement what we raise with fish. Face it - its a tough job but someone has to do it!
