I harvested a few bug killed trees from our property. I was cutting them up for firewood when I found one had been lightning struck. I have the bottom 15 1/2 feet set aside for drum making. It should make for some awesome drums, since the "thunder" is already in the wood.
I have attached 2 pics. One shows the lightning trail down the length of the log, the other is a shot of the small end.
I am keeping 2 1/2 feet of the large end for my drum project. The rest will be sold. I am open to trades.
I found that the Celtic Drums are made from lightning struck pine.
Also, Native Americans used it for flutes. It's also rumored to make the best guitars and banjos.
